new 020 tranny symptoms

actually, the 8valve seized and i rebuilt a 16v that i bought. noone messed
with the stuff while i was rebuilding. it was apart for about 6 months. i
think i may have bent the arm while holding the tranny up to bolt to the
engine. how hard would it be to unbolt the tranny from the engine and check
on the clutch stuff? which way is it supposed to go (admitting that it may
be reversed because i didnt know it could be)? and what does the spring for
the pushrod plate look like? if it is going to be quick and easy, i may fix
it myself, otherwise im getting it towed to a mechanic because im tired of
being without my car.

thanx for all the help so far,
tony
