new 020 tranny symptoms

i bent the arm that was hitting the hex part back out and tightened the 
cable so there is about 1/8" slack.  when i push the clutch in it makes 
noise and will grab if i move the shifter into gear (it grinds into the 
gears too) when i let out on the pedal, the wheels stop spinning and the 
sound is sort of a whirring, quiet buzz.

sigh, i wish i had the money to hire a mechanic to fix this shit so i could 
drive my car!!
