MK1 Project 16v - Update!

  This afternoon I hit the road for Daun's place... which is where my '80
Scirocco has been in hybernation all winter (thanks Daun!)... my hopes were to
install the fuel lines, injectors, and do some final checks on wiring and
vacuum connections.  The engine was almost ready for its first start...
Since the engine and all wiring in the car was replaced, I spent a while
worrying about what connections I had forgotten and what might be plugged in
wrong or whatever... then I figured it was just time to go ahead with the
battery and a test of the fuel pump.  Turned key, and all systems were a go...
fuel pump was buzzing, and sounding healthy.  Sweet!
Now I was excited... so Daun and I looked over everything once more and then
with fingers crossed I turned the key again...this time there was no fooling
around...gotta go for the start... and the first turn of the key...
Vrroooom!  FIRST TRY!
 Well, ok, then it died...but after another couple tries the engine stayed
running on its own.  The sound of a 16v running with only the manifold and
downpipe was music to my ears.  Then I realized that there was a problem...
the engine was running, but was really rough.  Hmmm...only 3 cylinders were
firing.  So I shut her down to take a closer look.  Daun thought it could be 
an injector, so I pulled them out to take a look at the spray patterns...
and yep, injector #2 was just dribbling fuel while the others were spraying
nicely... bingo!  So, once I find a replacement injector to try I have great
hopes the car will run now!  ;)
 All that's left now is to rewire the tail lights, install the headlights,
bumpers, install the dash and switches, all interior needs redone, and then
some more rust fixing, and maybe I'll complete the exhaust system too...
ok, so there's still a ton of work left, but now that the car runs it sure
feels like it's done!
  I just can't wait to drive it... (hopefully by next week)
