Update: Almost Stranded. Help

When coils fail, heat is the killer. The car will start and idle fine, but
as the coil warms up, it starts to die. On my Scirocco, the car ran great
cold, but as the coil warmed up, I'd start missing at high RPM. As it got
worse, the RPM effected moved down. On an old Corvair I had, the coil
would just die. I'd have to let it sit for an hour or two before I could
restart (great for dates in high school, btw).
