What kind of gas

Well at least I am getting input, and Scott, yeah it s happening, I will
leave this tank to empty and fill with 87 and test again.
but I know the head has never been cleaned before in 16 years of existance
(original head , motor never opened) and my wife use to never rev the engine
past 3000rpm, when I got it two years ago, I could not go beyond 3000K the
car would have no power what so ever, this has been greatly imporved since I
have been running 9 > octane + boost on every tank fill. It could be carbon
as you state and would surprise me very little, timing is dead on TDC, it
used to be Extremely lean and was set to a normal level by vw mechanic, but
I have been noticing the plugs to be very dry (brian wagner can attest to
this has he has seen my old plugs) and I think it is sxtill running lean. So
it could be carbon + lean mix my issues. and I am only compensating with
chemical reaction instead of fixing the problem ?

Patrick
starting to understand this shit.. amazing what you can teach a frenchman :)

=>Patrick, using higher octane gas will result in cooler engine
=>temperatures.
=>Most likely, you are either imagining things or your combustion chamber is
=>ridden with carbon deposits. These can incandesce (glow red hot
=>like coals)
=>and ignite the weaker gasoline prematurely. This is especially
=>probable with
=>a 10:1 or greater CR. If you're experiencing this with an 8.5:1 or lower,
=>then there's something gone wrong under your hood. -improper
=>timing, overly
=>lean mixture, lots of carbon, head milled beyond spec, etc.
