RE: alternator swap

Patrick,

I have an 87' 16v scirocco with A/C, so the 90 amp will work, however it
doesn't fit...  Bentley mentions two alt types in reference to belt tension as
notched tension adjuster and straight bracket.  

The spare alternator is the notched type, where the original is the straight
bracket type.  The spare alt has different mounts, could this be from a non-AC
car?   Any idea if I could swap the good alt internals into the original
housing?
