Well, the battery itself is just one big non
weatherproof item sitting under the hood, as are all
the contacts on the back of the lights, and the A/C
switches, and at least half a dozen others, of course
the posts on the battery are separated by a good 8" or
so. Besides, the spot where I mounted my relays is
exactly the same spot Volkswagen mounted the Hella fan
relay, a non weatherproof enclosure I might add.

Amperage is the strength of an electric current,
therefore if you have larger gauge wire hooked to
terminal 30 & 87 you are going to pass that higher
amperage to the bulb. I did not mean to imply that the
relay itself was an amperage booster.

It was a PITA to do the relay setup, so I can see why
people would analyze the hell out of the reasons for
doing it.
