Greg, this a Mk1 or a Mk2?

I broke one of my inner studs, and did some exploratory surgery on another
car. You can access the top of the stud (it is a stud, no head on it,
press fit into the floorpan) behind the pedals (at least on a mk1). You
have to pull the carpet, then there is this semi-hard coating on the
metal. Poke at that coating near the bottem where the panel behind the
pedals meets the floor pan. You will find access holes that are covered
up by the coating. Let me know what you find with that stud, I haven't
removed by broken off one yet, and would be curious to see a picture of a
loose one so I know what to look for when replacing mine. My suggestion
for you, is since the thing is loose, replace it with an apropriate size
bolt with washers...that or just tack weld that sucker in place from the
top...

Good luck and please let me know what you find, I could take pictures of
the mk1 of where exatcly those holes are if needed.
