instrument cluster q's

in an attempt to get my tach working in my '85, i switched tach units
in the cluster. in hindsight it would've been easoer to just check the
connection with a good cluster. nevertheless, the tach still doesn't
work. after all the work of swapping units, the cluster with the good
tach still didn't register. now that i've eliminated the cluster, what's
left? the connection at the coil appears to be okay.
secondly, did motometer ever make a 120mph speedo? i replaced the unit
in my '84 because it looks like someone too a 120mph face and put in on
an 85mph unit. the car was registering 80mph when i was probably doing
55mph or so. just curious.
and sort of related, but not really, when i was messing around with
the two plugs to the cluster tonight could've i have hit something to
make my blower not work? the connection from the harness to the blower
is fine. checked the fuse and it was okay (the radiator fan won't come
on when you switch the blower motor on and the fuse is missing). ideas?
this has been a poor night.
