RE: [TECH] Wheels & Tires...HELP!

Okay, now that you're following this logic, you need to pick an appropriate
snow tire. Sears is still your only option, eh? What snow tires do they
offer? The various tires are more suitable for different weather conditions.
For instance, Blizzaks are best ice whereas Hakkapaliitas typically kick ass
in deep snow. Do your research and buy wisely for best results.

Btw, the monkeys at Sears may steer you into something like a 185/60 tire.
This is totally wrong. Like I said before, you want tall and skinny on the
snow/ice. I recommend 175/70 if you only expect lite snow every now and
then. If Boston hits hard this Winter, then you'll want something more like
165/80. If your current rims are 5" in width, then the 165 tires will be
fine; if you have 5.5" width then you'd probably be better with the 175s.

Finally, your Neuspeed Race springs and big swaybars are not going to help
you at all in the snow. You will be much better off with a stock suspension
than that stuff. Expect to lose a lot of traction with that
stuff -particularly on bumpy ice-covered roads.

On the dry or just wet roads you may even get a kick out of the handling.
The snowtire's sidewalls are very soft so the car will slosh all over the
place. Ultimately, your dry grip will be vastly diminished on these tires.
*However*, you can easily drive at rally-type slip angles and impress the
chicks. :^)

Remember, "usually sideways" is best! Heh heh...
