[tech]timing issue?

hey everyone,
over the three day weekend i figured i could get a couple things done to
the rocco that i haven't had the time to do earlier. well, i decided to
adjust the solid lifter valves while changing the oil...easy enough right.
while tring to move the cam to open the valves the belt slipped a few
teeth...shit! now i can't get the engine to start. it'll crank just fine,
but i don't even get a rough idle w/ some backfiring. i've checked the
sparkplugs for a spark and they're just fine...a white and blue arc. the
fuel is making it to the injectors also. is it possible to screw the timing
up bad enough to not allow the engine to start at all? every time i've run
into a timing prob on my cars in the past, they'd at least start but would
run like hell. anyone ever have this prob before?
