RE: Anyone replace their lug bolts with studs and nuts?

Aaron's second paragraph refers to the only downside of bolts; the annoyance
when putting a wheel on.
And, like Aaron implies, strength is a wash...no advantage to either one.
 What else is there?.....

I don't know how studs are "stronger" - could you cite evidence? I don't
think there would be any correlation between running slicks and using studs.

I am annoyed by the fact that the Germans use bolts instead of studs. Have
you ever compared how easy it is to mount a wheel on a vehicle with studs to
one without? It's such a pain that BMW included a tool to assist you in the
trunk mounted tool kit of my 528e. It threads into one of the holes and you
slip one of the holes in the wheel over it, and after you start a couple of
bolts, you remove this tool. (I haven't had occasion to use it yet.)

For a given size and material, how is a stud any more likely to break than
the bolt it is replacing?
