Re: Disassembling/cleaning fuel dist.

I can almost guarantee you that the plunger will not be dirty, or at least
dirty enough to need disassembly and cleaning. The plunger is very delicate
meaning that it is machined within such close specs that the metal plunger
to the metal housing makes a close enough seal that gasoline can't seep
through. Very impressive!! You can take it out and inspect it if you want
but be very careful with it and don't use ANYTHING abrasive when cleaning
it. The fuel distributor is protected by an inline filter in the banjo bolt
on the IN side of the fuel dist. The injectors are also protected by
filters in each of the holes on the top of the fuel distributor before the
fuel goes into the lines that run to the injectors. If you have a fuel
distributor problem you will need another since there is not a whole lot
that you can do to it yourself. I do believe that they are rebuildable but
not with any kind of tools that any one of us have. I also took one apart
out of curiosity, plus I knew that it had problems so it wasn't a good
distributor. Anyway, I don't know a ton about them but I have messed with
them quite a bit a learned quite a bit about them. HTH!!
