Re: best motor mount configuration?

A very big part!!

When I installed the 1847cc 8V Techtonics motor into Mars (0 mi. and fully
ballanced by TT) I just ran the bolts through the mounts and cranked 'em
down.
I had some vibration for a couple weeks and was disapointed by TT's balance
job.

I went to check and make sure I didn't have a loose bolt/nut on one of the
mounts and decided to read bentley this time for the torque settings.
Low and behold there was a trick to tightening the mounts.

I don't have the book in front of me but I believe it consisted of
tightening the rear first (making sure it wasn't twisted at all). Then
making sure the sides were square in each of their respective housings and
tightening them (this required rocking the motor a little). Then tightening
the front last so there is no stress put on it.

After that the vibrations went away and it was smooth as silk (well until
you get to about 6800rpm's).
Craig and I went for a ride today and I hit ~7200rpm's.....This is an EN
block with an 8V head....go figure.

Follow the directions in the bentley and if your vibration doesn't go away
it is time for a new mount or a softer one.
