steering-rack mount

alright yall.. check this out. some of yall might remember the shifter
problem i came to yall with a few weeks ago. well i finally got the parts
and replaced all the bushings, rods, shifter plate, etc.. and the thing
shifted like butter... awesome!! set it down on the ground and go to take it
for a test drive and it is back to shifting thru half dried concrete
again... shit!!! turning the wheel makes the stick move around and
eventually frees up the shifter... what the f...? jack it up again and two
hours later finally find it... theres some kind of mounting bracket holding
the steering rack to the chassis which is completely broken so the uv joint
boot coming from the column down to the rack is getting pushed forward and
all around causing that second shift linkage to rub, and also causing that
other thing mounted to the rack (looks kinda like a square c with a shaft
going through it and on the bottom of the shaft is that thing with the ball
on it (you'll have to forgive my non-technical description.. ima dumbass)
that's a part of the shifting assembly) to move all around. anybody ever
heard of this/ know what is gonna be involved? is that a mounting bracket
like a strap (maybe something i can fab.)? or is that a part of the rack and
i gotta just replace the whole thing? any precautions i need to take to
prevent something like this happening again? etc... anything would be
helpful. sorry this was so long, but thanks for reading it all the way
through, if you made it.
peace.
jonpz.
