Re: scirocco-L-digest V1 #1911

RE: High idle Andrew Wong <mkii_84@yahoo.com

Have you done the simple task of pulling off the air boot and examining
your throttle body? An earlier 84 GTi that lived in the shop for months
after being cannabilized at a race had a sticky throttle plate.
Some lube cured it.

RE: Removing EGR on 78

IFn you remove the throttle body restrictor and advance the timing, you
might as well block off the EGR. IIRC, I fabbed a small Al plate,
used some Permatex and screwed it on. Then, the vacuum amplifier is
redundant and you can simplify, too. I also modded the points
distributor and removed one of the springs. Finally, to get more
total advance, put a check valve into the vacuum retard line to
distributor.
