automatic to manual conversion in 77 rocco?

i aready got most of this done but when i was getting into the engine compartment side i noticed the steering racks are different so i got a steering rack from an '80 rocco and i noticed it bolted in  different.
i didnt think they changed the bodys between auto and manual. did they just change the mounting brackets when they changed the fenders or what? do i have to get the steering rack from a manual 77 rocco?
