You have no O2 sensor? How about points vs electronic Ign?  NO Computer?
 Slap in an early fuel Dist from something that matches an 81 S.

Argh!! Don't do this. At least get some plain water in there, even if
you just loop the two coolant hoses. Warpage young man, WARPAGE!!! 

As for noisy lifters, if you just started it don't sweat too much, do an
oil change (10w40 for winter?) and see what happens. During the rebuild,
did they replace the oil pump too?

4- Just get new injector seats (they screw into he head and aren't too
expensive) and some new injector orings and it will fit right.
