Hmmmm...Ben Harder just had to replace his pressure plate, the factory
said it was because he had push-started it once...seems there are three
(IIRC) little tabs in there that are designed to be stressed in
tension, and if you apply stress to them in the wrong direction
(compression, is it were) from push-starting, they can fold or kink,
causing a weak spot and bingo, failure.
