Want to point out, for our real early VW folk, that the throttle bodies
on the 70's era car had a restrictor placed in the venturi opening. 

Remove the plastic S pipe and take a look inside the throttle, you might
see what looks like a metal doughnut in there reducing the diameter of
the passageway.

It is held in with a pin or dowel which you can drive out with a punch.

Relevance: My 1977 Mk1 had one of these, removing made a measurable
difference on the ol' butt-dyno.
