I see what you mean. You have the top cam lined up and the fly wheel lined 
up as well. The dist runs off the intermediate shaft thats what you want to 
line up right?.

Well as long as the rotor is on the shaft & the cap off, you can see where 
#1 cyl is if all the marks are on. Unplug all the cap wires and put them 
back on starting with cyl#1. If #1 rotor & plug match up (use a 13mm to 
adjust the dist roughly) Plug the wires back in in the clockwise rotation 
 >1-3-4-2<
This rough timing will allow the car to start, but just need a timing light 
to top it off..
