RE: Premature AC removal(questions)

I just did mine, it was rather easy once I figured it out. I have power
steering so that made it easier. I got an alternator pulley off an A2 8v
(I'm sure others would work, as long as they are the longer style) and a
gates 7445 belt from napa (lots of places carry gates belts). I used the
original belt and pulley setup for the PS and used the longer gates belt to
connect the inner crank pulley, water pump idler pulley, and alternator
pulleys. The only hitch was that I had to make a 1/4" or so spacer for the
alternator pulley because (a) the nut wouldnt have seated on the inside of
the pulley, and (b) it didnt quite line up. You could probably get some
large washers and get the same effect. The hardest part of this whole
install is making the spacer, because you have to grind a place for it to
fit over the woodruff key. Not really that bad. Email me if you have
questions.
