>Then 6months ago I decided to use the beast for the ultimate enduro

>event.

>

>I proply dropped the car off for a full cage,(145+ in a tin can with

>concrete is no fun) to my suprise 3 weeks turned into 4months. I now

>had a 1.8T rocco is with a full cage modded for the passager to

>sleep, O2A,CTN tranny(145 in 4th with 1 gear to go), Cable clutch,

>new motor mounts, suede dash, full VDO instruments, spherical

>bushings everywhere, etc. but 0 tuning or driving experiance with

>new set up.

>

> the night before installed the stereo and interior, drove to

>watkins glen for start. (On the way to the hotel I hear a nasty

>sound from behind Only to find a Renntech benz worth 400,000 wow

>that thing is nasty) To find the hardest part of the event waiting,

>your right potter the sticker challenge is not fun, being forced to

>cover you car in huge ugly stickers in the wind with dust and dirt

>is not easiy. Go to tech to see if my stickers are correct, finish

>odds and ends fuba, brake ducts, lights, padding on cage. talk to a

>lot of people about the car. finish up the car, and one lap meetings

>and events. check in and go over the maps and routs.

>

>Saturday:

>

>wake up 7 am go to watkin glen for 1st event, warm up is great the

>car is awsome, then problems start. no full throttle, the motor is

>not throwing codes we think it's the pluming for the turbo which

>helps, but is not it. it's fuel problems, forced to do a 30mph lap

>to get points, I beat the renntech benx though at 30mph :), Then

>drive home

>

>APR gives us there new software with 100 octane maps with toggle

>switch. This stuff is really cool it's like having a boost dial

>with maps to match the boost increase, they say around 40hp with 100

>octane map. Go to atlanta road course tuesday night,

>

>wensday:

>

>meet up with the one lapers coming from texas. The morning session

>at alanta is interesting, learning how to drive a short wheel based

>high horse power car, guessing at tire pressures and suspension,

>while on road atlanta. tire pressures in rear where to high and I

>was over steering like crazy. It felt like a rally course my ass

>end wan't to lead, I did ok placed mid pack, got back to pits to

>find that I needed a new fuel pump. drained gas tank, became part

>PANOZ with their help they hooked us up with a very nice Bosh fuel

>pump and inline filter with silocone piping and areo fittings they

>ony had carbon brackets so they gave us them. in my rush to get it

>back in I cross treaded the fuel pump (what a moron) but with a the

>help of a ferrie tech I was able to fix the problem, OK in the last

>hour, this rocco became part PANOZ with ferrie labor COOL. To top

>all of this, I meet a man ted who was admiring the rocco and after

>talking says this was his scirocco, he was the second owner and the

>one who brought it back to the east coast. WOW get done in time to

>do after noon session try new tire pressures, works better but not

>great, but I'm starting to now the course set a very good time, lap

>a boxer.

head out to Carolina Rod shop, a check point on the way to VIR in virginia.
Good drive in the car, the problem is solved. do a top speed run max out at
about 145 in 4th still pulling with a gear to go, get into traffic. felt
good but gets mighty light at that speed, I need a wing?

Thursday:

got some sleep last night, VIR is amazing new track. it's like a golf course
for drivers you join the club and get you use it and the faciliys when ever
you want. I want to join. Co driver (GUY) drives both coures today.
morning they move use to the front of the pack, guy learns the track
pressures are still not right, he does some mowing in a off track experance,
car is fine, low time. afternoon, new tire pressures work well he catches a
turbo 930 on the first lap and passes on the secound. pack up and head out
to watkins glen about a 10 hour drive?

Friday:

wake up for final day of One lap of america at the glen. To day we are doing
the boot which is the long course, drive conservative from alot of people
scaring me about the course. I beat another Turbo, cool. this is fun.
afternoon session I go for it, the gasket for the waste gate goes and we
over boost to 30psi, the motor is fine, but we don't have a spare, so down
on boost and power, Guy drives 3rd session slower for no gasket but gets
time on the course.

Saturday:

awards, we are not getting one. but the event was great and was good to
cheer on fellow friends and teams. To are suprise we win the bent Valve
award for "never say die" The event was very worth it, preperation is key.
I'm doing it again next year, and I have a year to prepare. Rumars are were
going west next year so hope to see you their, This year we where the only
