cold starting aid (aka choke) location - MKII

Can any European listers with carburetted MkII's please describe the
location of any manual cold start knob/choke that their car might be
equipped with?

I suspect that it would be located to the lower left of the steering wheel
(LHD) where the trim cap is lcoated on fuel injected cars.  A picture
would be very helpful.
