Car Show or Enthusiast gathering...was: Extra prizes will be awarded at West Coast Scirocco Meet on the weekend of ND

Doug and Brian make very good points.

My View:
Mars does not have show quality paint but it is original, and she was
rear-ended a couple years ago which I have tried to fix.
Sometimes the trans grinds when shifting into second and the sunshades sag,
but she is a joy to drive.
It took a long time to get her paint to where it is now and is very hard to
maintain compared to a 2000 Jetta.
I have used a lot of enginuity to get her to where she is. I have also
invested a lot of my own manual labor to make her what she is and will
continue to grow to be.
Will she win anything at the ND Car show? Of course not and I don't expect
her too, she's gettin' to be an older lady now.
Should I enter her knowing she is not perfect.......hmmmm......?
Will she draw looks and questions from other A1 enthusiasts because of
her1847cc heart transplant, and all the other improvements I've done that
aren't "off the shelf bolt ons"? I expect there will be a few.
Will the "trailer queen" A3/A4 people be-grudge me for entering her in the
show? Probably but I understand their ignorance.
I just enjoy being around other motor-heads whether they be Mopar, Honda,
Ducati, John Deer, etc.. enthusiasts.
I especially enjoy the company of those that find joy in bringing back to
life a mis-understood and underestimated car....the Scirocco.

Ok, so what is my point?

Is this just simply a car show, or a gathering of VW enthusiasts?
If it is the former, I promise not to come. If it is the latter, I can't
wait to be there.

Oh yeah, Cosmos will be there too....

:^)
