Like Jason said, weld it up...

I was working on a front cross member support, that would bolt up 
to the bumper bolts, come down and across the cross member, 
behind the fron mount cup, and using the 2 front mount bolts to secure
it, 
continuing across and up to the other bumper bolts.

I hope that makes sense...

The dufus that was helping me fabricate the bracket made it out 1/4" 
diamond plate, and it was way too heavy, plus it didn't fit.

Maybe C.A.R. can whip something up for you...

I'd still weld in small plates across the cracks, before it gets out of
hand...
