Thanks to all who replied so far, but..

What is a realistic range?


Specifically, if you have one in your car, what are the extremes you see?  I'll
assume the needle would peg (or come close) while you are starting the engine,
but how about while driving?

asside: voltage measures the potential for electrons to move.  current measures
the amount of moving electrons.  Realizing that, an amp meter will indicate
weather the batttery is being charged or drained, regardless of it's state of
charge.
