    and if you want to be really anal, get yourself a removable steering
wheel.

    they're quite the visual deterrant.  i've tried driving without it for a
bit, just for the helluvit, and a thief won't get far without it.

    so, for any of you that have fears of losing your car to some scummy
bastards with sticky fingers, get an alarm (with sirens on the inside and
outside of the car), preferably a separate smaller battery on the inside of
the dash somewhere, at least 2 battery disconnects, and a detachable
steering wheel.

    if someone ends of stealing you car after that, then it was meant to be.
there is only so much that you can do, IMHO.

    BTW, mike.  my heart goes out to you.  i've thankfully never had this
happen to me, but i know that if i did, it would be a horribly violating
experience.
