RE: [A2] Jetta headlight Q.

Ummm I'm not sure if someone has already answer this, but why wont "Euro"
style likes pas inspection? I mean they still light up the road right? It's
not like they are flashing red and blue. So why would anyone care?

Subject: [A2] Jetta headlight Q.

I've decided to replace the headlights on my Jetta, as they are now so
horrible that even the high beams result in little more than a "more
random scattering of photons". Last night's drive down an unlit highway
was the last straw, so time to replace them! I've got a few questions,
though, and need some opinions/advice/info.

I'm thinking of going three ways. First, the simple upgrade to the
eurospec Jetta lights (rectangular). Cheapest of the options, and will
definately help (especially with those 55/100 W bulbs). The only real
downside is I'd have to swap them out for inspection. Seems easy enough
to do, although I've never actually replaced the lights.

US spec 16V setup. I always liked that quad-lamp look. Plus, since they
are US spec, no worries about inspection, no swapping, no keeping
anything else around. Fire and forget... But how well do they work?
I'm sure the high beams will be fine, especially with the inner lights
on. But is the low beam light pattern good enough to justify not haveing
the euro lights? It's actually the low beam I'm worried about. I've got
fog lights which help at lower speeds, but don't do too much on the
highway.

Euro 16V setup. Probably the best setup, but the biggest PITA when it
comes to inspection, because I'd have to swap the grill and everything.

Simply put, while I like the euro-setup, I'm also trying to be lazy...
So if the US 16V setup will work quite well, I may spend the extra money
just so that I don't have to worry about the inspections. BTW, how
difficult is the 16V swap?

Right now, I'm leaning towards the euro Jetta lights. Cheapest, work
well and should be fairly easy to swap. But I'm looking for any advice.

Thanks,
B.
