It could also be your emergency brake cable.  Can you feel the vibration in
the handle?  When I had my 82, one of the clamps on the swing arm let go and
the cable started to hit one of the inner wheel weights, causing the cable
to fly back up into the bottom of the car.  It scared the crap out of me as
it was LOUD, nothing a little duct tape couldn't fix on the side of the road
though.
