starting problems

the car in question is a 84 jetta gli (same as an 84 scirocco)....

car has been sitting for a while....had a full tank of gas most of the time....
i put in a 2.0l block from an audi 80, rebuilt solid lifter head....
after hooking everything back up (except for the full throttle
connectors) it would just crank, but never catch....
swapped in a known good distributor and i did get it to start 3
times.....drove it around the parking lot....but it stalled out after
parking and i haven't been able to get it to start since...

i know that most of the oil has drained into the pan, which would
lower compression more than normal......anyone know where i can get
the tool to attach to a drill to prime the oil pump?....

would not having the full throttle switch have anything to do with
the not starting problem?.....

i know that the timing is dead on (minor adjustment of the
distributor is all that is needed)

any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated

thanks
dave :)
