I have a TT without the flex joint.  It's been in
there for 2.5 years with no trouble yet.  I got
mine just after the supply for the flex joints ran
out.  I was a litte upset when I opened the box
and found no flex thingie, but all is well.

Shoulda been a pile cheaper, but it's the same
price...
