HELP!!

Hi list, my fucking alternator froze up on me at like 5 in the morning, i had 
to walk home,AHHHHHHHHH, so my question is,.... is it hard to change one out, 
what tools do i need, how do i get that belt off, etc etc, if anyone can help 
id really apreciate it, cause my car is sitting in a damn parking lot 
somewhere
