Sounds like a clogged strainer. I have had lots of experience with broken
pickup tubes, and their symptoms are usually that the car will die with any
sudden right turns. A clogged strainer will give you a delayed
reaction...turn a sharp corner, then it sputters. Or, on long sweeping
corners like you've described, it will do it. Perhaps your pickup tube just
has a hole in it...hard to say for sure. Just check the strainer and go from
there.
