ha ha I must admit I pondered that before too. after all the radiator work done
to my car however i am very confident that the gauge you are talking about
relates to water temperature

     OKay Dumb Question here,

The standard Guage in a 8v Scirocco (the one next to the ashtray) is it a water
temperature gague or an oil temperature gague?
