Mike is right. Changing the rod bolts is manditory as they are single use strech bolts. Ont the topic of other things that weren't mentioned...
 
Have the rods re-sized at a machine shop at the same time they press in the new rod bolts.
 
Bring the block to them and have them press in new intermidiate shaft bearings, too.
 
Have them polish the crank and inspect it.

Replace them all. That's why you have 'er open anyway, right? Just order the
main bearing set and the rod bearing set from www.parts4vws.com



Don't forget to change the rod bolts! Very Important! =)
