Re: G60 transplant into to Mk1...Questions(Long)

Craig,
Get it. i got one off of my friend that had been hit in the rear.
Steve Min and I will be doing this conversion in the next few months
(Hopefully done by ND) using a 90 Corrado G60 to his 81S. This is what I have
discovered so far.

The motor bolts up to the tranny so you don't have to use the O2A. If you
want to use it then their is a kit that helps you install it for 450 from
www.HSMotosports.com.

The dash will fit with some trimming. I have seen the Corrado dash in a MK2
and I have a MK2 16V dash in my 78. The front seats fit. The rear seats fit
with some custom brackets and cut rear side panels. The center console will
fit but needs some customer brackets.

You will have to use the Corrado fuel pump assy(fuel filter attached) or make
a customer filter setup. The fuel lines will have to be modified since they
attach on the passenger side of the car. If you want to run A/C then you have
to cut out the front radiator support and if not then you have to re-route
the serpentine belt. The air box does not fit properly and should run a
P-Flow. The windshield washer tank has to be moved.

The intercooler will fit in the fender but will have to cut the frame to fit
or run a custom intercooler. The option we are looking into is rerouting the
intercooling piping and running a different intercooler in front of the
radiator where the AC condensor was.

The Corrado comes with an air-water oil cooler same as on 16V's. I suggest an
aftermarker oil cooler which is what we are doing.
The radiator will fit with some custom brackets. The stock radiator will work
and is about the same size which is what we will probably do. Not sure yet.

The exhaust manifold is basically the same as any 8V dual outlet. The flanges
on the head are the same. We will be running the 81S 4-2-1 stock manifold. We
will be putting on a TT 2" exhaust with a 2" Ultraflow Stainless and a 2"
freeflow cat. The Corrado stock exhaust is about 2" and will not work.

The front brakes will swap over with brackets and you will have to run 15"
wheels. The rear brakes will swap over but needs to be modified to work.
