Re: no cold starts

Let's start at the bottom.

John Elway is and will always be an ass (met him at the State Armory in
Greeley CO when he started, this was years ago when I was in school at UNC),
but all personal preferences aside.

I recently experienced the same problem as you, yes almost identical.

I had checked the following

Thermotime switch
thermo switch
CSV (cold start valve)
etc....

and all were within tolerance of what was stated in the bentley. Then out of
the blue (or was it over the internet) a little voice said try the ICM
(ingintion control module) not the knock box or the ECM (engine control
module) just the little ICM. So I pulled the one off the parts car and on
the next cold morning 38 degrees (in Texas), I swapped the ICM. I sat in the
seat and inserted the key gently turning, the next thing I knew the car was
running the cold start problem was gone. I immediately turned it off and
switched the old ICM back in and the SOB wouldn't fire. Changed it back and
vroom, I read your whole email start to finish. the ICM is like $30 at
Autozone if you don't have a spare, if you do try it you may like the
results.

This worked for me and it sure beat the stealership labor rate, it took 10
mins and now the car is great.
