my new (to me) 16v roc :)

well,

I towed it home yesterday, 300+ Miles, in the rain, using my 52 HP rabbit
truck. & it was fun :) (i'll have pictures of the tow rig later, hehe)

A friend gave me a really good deal on the car, & I am excited to get
started on it... the great thing is, even though the car isnt perfect, its
perfect for me as it needs enough work that i can replace & remove stuff
to make it the way i want it without worrying about ruining a low mileage
"collectors" example of the breed, but it doesnt neeed so much work as to
be a start from scratch project :)

some good stuff:
* the body is pretty straight with the exception of a few small dents here
	and there, and pry damage on the passenger side...
* seems to have an aftermarket exhaust and TT race downpipe.
* runs & drives well
* no rust to speak of
* frame seems straight
* interior is nice
* came with the main spare parts i need.
* its a black 16v rocco
* did i mention its a 16v rocco?

some stuff i need to fix
* timing belt dry rotted, but not broken (thus the tow home)
* AC busted (remove it)
* power windows non functioning (fix or replace with cranks)
* had a kewl stereo, hopefully the wiring done didn't make too big a mess
* vibration at idle (collapsed passenger motor mount perhaps)
* wiring issues under the hood :(
* tuned to run with no OXS (if i put in the CIS motronic, not an issue)
* missing lower front factory stress bar (but i have a spare)
* dash cracked 6 ways to sunday (think I know where an uncracked one is)

All in all, I am extremely staisfied with it though, it is a great
starting point for a project, i have a 9a & motronic in the garage just
itchin to get rebuilt and put in here :) i wanted to remove the AC anyway,
maybe i'd prefer manual windows anyway etc. etc.

This should be a fun winters project, but i'm going to make myself clean
up the garage before i start, it needs it & that is motivation to get
going on the cleaning. I ought to weigh it before i start to get a before
& after curb weight, with all im planning to remove, i think it'll shed a
few LBS. (AC, sound padding etc.)

I have some pictures at my webpage

enjoy,

Steve

P.S. this is my second 16v roc, sold the first one less than 6 months ago,
missed it so much I had to buy an identical one (mine was the same as this
one, only an 87.. that i bought in 90.)
