Dash Rattles: input, need more input

Ok,
The Rieger developed a dash rattle about 2 months ago. It sounds like a
dense piece of plastic is resting against some horizontal surface in the
dash (a thumpy type rattle, not tinny as if its light plastic, may even be a
metal piece or something). Hitting bumps/specific idle frequencies cause the
rattle, which is almost impossible to localize. It is above the glove box,
to the left of the vent, and seems to be near the defrost rail. The dash
itself doesnt rattle/move when this happens either.
Now here is the kicker, the exact same thing started happening on the
driver side today. To the left of the cluster, right of the vent, again
seems to be in the dash, slightly below the defrost rail.
So, my good scirocco buddies, what heavy parts are in there that are on
both sides and have the possibility to come loose and drive scirocco owners
nuts with rattles???

Please reply asap, gonna fix it tomorrow, even if it means ripping the dash
out.
