Bad Wheel Bearing?

When I back up, with the wheels cranked all the way to the right, I hear a 
fairly nasty, raspy-sounding metal-on-metal sound coming from the area of 
the left front wheel.  Is this the wheel bearing?  If so, what's the best 
method of repair?  Should I buy a new hub with the races already pressed in 
or is that overkill?
