timing reset...AND air breathing

I had a loss of power under accelleration. I still have a minor vac leak, 
but...
I set the timing off by a full 3 deg today. WOW. No loss of power during the 
power band, runs smoother and quieter.

As for the breathing, ( I already have a tape that says "Breath in.... 
Breath out...)
With a 50mm Tb and the larger airflow plate, the intake to the airbox is 
only 35mm. I bought one from a pick yard for $6.00. I am thinking to increse 
the intake size to 4". Will this help?
