You said you rechecked the timing, but which timing?  There is the flywheel/distributor timing  (which should be at 6 degrees BTDC) and there is also the cam/crankshaft timing and also the cam timing itself.

Check to crankshaft/cam timing first.  I don't remember the exact procedure, but check your manual.  I believe the mark on the cam sprocket has to be level with the valve cover when the mark on the crankshaft sprocket lines up with the arrow on the lower timing belt cover.  Don't quote me on this, check your manual.

If this checks out, take the valve cover off and make sure that the 2 cams are aligned properly.  The marks (little circles) stamped on the cam wheels/sprockets should line up with each other at some point when turning the crankshaft.  If they do not, you exhaust and intake cam are not aligned properly.  Check your manual.

the idle stabilizer valve on my 87 golf GT vibes constantly with teh igntion jsut on, not running.  my scirocco vibes irregularly when iginiton on, not running, if that ,makes a difference.   the main thing i want tog et fixed is the LOW POWER.. my riding lawnmower is faster than my rocco right now.

i jsut set up a scirocco help web board... i have a mac so i cant use allyns chat..

the cold start valve doesnt drip..its fine.

maybe my rocco needs a good swift kick in the tailpipe.
