Re: confused



I presume the car is carbed. Does it still have the original carb and has it 
had anything done to it recently? If the carb has been taken apart, there 
could be a multitude of things causing problems.  Could be that the float 
height is set too low and the carb jets are starving going round the corner. 
Recent problems I've had seem to suggest that the idle jets crap out first 
if it's short on fuel.

Does it make any difference if the tank is full - could be crap clogging the 
fuel pick-up in the tank. It's easy to get the lifter out of the tank to 
check.

Does the fuel filter show any signs of crap coming from the tank? Brownish 
coloured gunk = rusty tank.  It's worth getting someone to hold the engine 
at idle speed and see if there are lots of bubbles coming through the fuel 
filter and then up the revs and see what happens. Lots of bubbles = 
restriction in the pipe / tank pickup.
