They fit in such a way as to have the little bend in the middle is
curling away from the edge of the rotor and up on the caliper. In other
words it makes no sense until you place it down there (pick one) and
flip it around the four different ways it could be and you will see:

- The fit between the end of the pad and the caliper, next to the tab
portion of the pad &
- You can slip them in under protest with the pair of pads installed OR
- You can leave one pad out until the clip is in place and slip the
second pad under the springy clip end.
