Clutch ?

What are the signs of a failing clutch cable?
When I first take off in the am,  when releasing the clutch in 1st I hear a 
nasty sound. But then dont hear it again.
New clutch, readjusted the cable ablout 2 weeks after that was 2 mos ago. 
Any help appreciated.
