Your best bet would to go to a bookstore and buy a couple on the subject. 
I have one here I bought at B&N and it has pretty much everything you are 
asking about. They have at least 10 different ones to choose from with DIY in 
mind.
One good thing about B&N in my neck of the woods is they have couches so you 
can preview books as long as you want before you buy or not buy.
