Thats actually not true. You will have more launching traction with a low
air pressure tire than a stock or high air pressure tire. Street tires
work relatively good at 15psi and down to 5psi. There are tradeoffs to
using a really low air pressure and 15psi is a fairly safe pressure to
use until you undertand more the behavior of a car on low air pressures.

Theres all kinds of things you can do to get a car down the quarter
faster. Making what you have fast is a pretty good start by just figuring
out what an adjustment here and there can do. Little things add up to big
time gains.
