Custom valved (was RE: cutting springs)

Any listers have
experience with the Neuspeed custom valved setup?

Back in '94/'95 I put the Neuspeed Sofsport/"Specially valved" Bilstein
combo on my Rabbit GTI. I went with the Sofsport because I drive into
Tijuana for work daily and the roads down here make you feel like you are
driving on the moon--craters that could swallow your car!

This combination--although a little too high to be ideal--rode great in the
GTI. When I bought the car back from the "Intermediate Owner", I thought
that he may have driven the hell out of the shocks and that they would need
to be replaced. But they are in great shape 5 years later and they are
currently installed on my Mk1. I really try to take care of my shocks. I
crawl over speed bumps just to make sure that the shocks don't get hammered.

This combination is really, really good. I can't remember the specifics in
the Neuspeed adverstisements, but I think they said that they had worked
with Bilstein to develop the combo.

I have Koni adjustables with Neuspeed Sport springs on my Integra, which is
also a nice setup, but I honestly don't know how the hell to set the car up
correctly--I just firm them up enough so that the car doesn't bounce. The
couple times that I have taken it to the local autoX, I didn't change the
settings at all--'course maybe that's part of the reason why I suck so bad
at autoX!

But I think that if you don't buy adjustable, you need to consult somebody
before throwing together just any spring/shock combination.
