If you are carefull, and somewhat mechanically oriented, you can take almost 
any switch on a Scirocco apart and repait it.  I have done this with the 
window switches, light switch, heater switch.... When I think about it:  I've 
done this to all switches!  (not that there is any trend here).  Take it all 
apart, but remember where things go together.  Clean it in hot soapy water, 
and dry with a hairdryer to prevent corrosion.  Then re-assemble and spray 
with dieletric grease or lithium grease.  This works well if you don't break 
anything.  You can also bend the contacts out if they are worn.
